In the quiet village of Gobindapur in Faridpur Sadar Upazila, a story of resilience, determination, and transformation is unfolding, thanks to the support of the FDA Khabashpur Branch and its Mitali Women’s Association. Ratna Akhtar, a proud member of the association (Reg. No. 34), and her husband, Hasibul Hasan, have become a beacon of hope for their community, proving that with the right guidance and financial support, dreams can indeed bear fruit—literally.
Hasibul Hasan, an educated and ambitious young man, faced a turning point during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like millions around the world, he lost his job and was forced to rethink his future. Instead of succumbing to despair, he decided to take a bold step: he left his job and ventured into agriculture, a field he had always been passionate about. With a vision to create something sustainable, he turned to his ancestral land and dreamed of cultivating a thriving fruit orchard.
However, dreams require more than just vision—they need resources. This is where FDA (Faridpur Development Agency) stepped in. In 2022, Hasibul secured a loan of 1 lakh taka from FDA, which became the foundation of his agricultural journey. With this support, he transformed 3.25 acres of land into a flourishing orchard, planting 1,000 plum trees and 2,000 guava trees. Each tree, costing around 40-45 taka, was a step toward a brighter future.
But Hasibul’s success didn’t come overnight. His dedication to learning and improving his skills played a crucial role. He attended multiple government and private agricultural training programs, equipping himself with the knowledge needed to nurture his orchard. Under his careful supervision, 2-3 local farmers worked tirelessly to maintain the orchard, ensuring it thrived year-round.
The results were nothing short of remarkable. From the very first year, Hasibul began to see profits. His annual investment of 2 to 2.5 lakh taka yielded a staggering return of 10 lakh taka in just one year. This incredible success not only transformed his family’s financial situation but also created employment opportunities for others in the community.
Today, Hasibul Hasan’s orchard stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and the impact of organizations like FDA. By providing financial support, training, and a platform for growth, FDA has not only changed Hasibul’s life but also inspired countless others in the community to pursue their dreams.
