FDA Provides Emergency Support to Fire-Affected Families in Faridpur

Every year during the dry season (Falgun-Chaitra), devastating fires caused by accidents destroy homes and livelihoods, leaving many impoverished families homeless and helpless. Recognizing this urgent need, the Faridpur Development Agency (FDA) has stepped in with immediate relief and rehabilitation support.

Key Interventions

✔ Emergency Aid:

  • In FY 2022-2023, FDA assisted 64 fire-affected families/institutions under its Community Development Activities program, disbursing 219,960 BDT in aid.
  • Includes cash support, housing materials, and counseling.

✔ Case Spotlight:

  • Shilpi Begum, a member of the Shomokal Mohila Samiti in Sadarpur Branch, lost her home in a recent fire.
  • FDA’s Sadarpur Branch provided construction advice and tin sheets to help rebuild her family’s house.

✔ Preventive Measures:

  • Awareness campaigns on fire safety during dry months.
  • Community solidarity drives to support victims.

Why This Matters

  • Rapid Response: FDA’s timely aid prevents families from falling deeper into poverty.
  • Sustainable Recovery: Focus on rebuilding homes, not just temporary relief.
  • Community Mobilization: Locals participate in supporting affected neighbors.

“We had nothing left—FDA gave us hope and a roof again,” said Shilpi Begum.
