Ensuring Education for All
Education is the backbone of a nation. It is a key driver of human civilization, fostering knowledge, skills, ethics, and creativity for societal growth. While Bangladesh’s literacy rate has improved from 22% to 71% over the past fifty years, concerns remain regarding the quality of education. To progress as a nation, we must strive for 100% literacy.

Since 1986, FDA has been running the Non-Formal Education Program (ESP), tailored to the needs of marginalized communities. Between 1986 and 2020, FDA has educated a total of 46,856 individuals through non-formal literacy programs.
Program Implementation
FDA has been implementing the Non-Formal Education Program across six unions in the Faridpur Sadar Upazila. This four-year-long education project provides primary education up to the 5th grade for children from low-income families in rural areas. The program primarily targets children who have never attended school or have dropped out due to socio-economic barriers.
Under this initiative, FDA has successfully operated 17 Non-Formal Primary Schools. The program commenced in January 2017 and continued until 2020, concluding during the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 480 students (230 boys and 250 girls) received education through these schools.
