FDA has been running the “Bangabandhu Higher Education Scholarship” program with its own funds to foster an educated nation, achieve millennium development goals, and contribute to building a “Golden Bangladesh.”
In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, FDA awarded scholarships of Tk. 36,000/- each to 5 underprivileged meritorious students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies at public universities, totaling Tk. 180,000/-.
Educational Support for Dropout Prevention
FDA believes that a significant number of students drop out of school and college every year due to a lack of essential supplies such as books, notebooks, pens, pencils, and exam fees. To prevent underprivileged children in the area from dropping out due to financial constraints, FDA provides annual financial assistance to students.
In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, FDA supported 63 students with Tk. 342,550/- for their education. Additionally, to enhance the learning environment and support school administration, FDA distributed almirahs, chairs, and tables to various educational institutions. In the fiscal year 2023-2024, FDA assisted 77 students with a total of Tk. 194,420/- for their education.
Medical Assistance
Many impoverished people suffer and die from various diseases due to a lack of medical treatment. Some families lose their sole earning members due to accidents, leaving them unable to afford treatment and return to work. Others succumb to incurable diseases. FDA extends a helping hand every year to such medically underserved individuals.
In the fiscal year 2023-2024, FDA provided medical assistance worth Tk. 192,723/- to 73 individuals. In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, FDA assisted 55 individuals with Tk. 157,683/- for medical treatment.
Community Institution Development
Community Institution Development includes support for schools, colleges, mosques, madrasas, temples, cultural organizations, sports institutions, and families affected by fire accidents. FDA assists these institutions to promote social and religious development in the area.
Additionally, many poor families lose their homes and belongings to fire accidents every year, especially during the dry season (Falgun-Chaitra). Such incidents leave families destitute and unable to recover. FDA stands by these distressed families with immediate support, mobilizing community solidarity.
In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, FDA provided Tk. 219,960/- in aid to 64 individuals/institutions under this program. In the fiscal year 2023-2024, FDA provided Tk. 282,080/- in aid to 105 individuals/institutions under this program.
